In an era where technology evolves at an unprecedented pace, the field of crisis management stands at a pivotal crossroads. Many of our guidelines and best practices are rooted in post 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina lessons learned. Indeed, 20+ years ago, those guidelines and best practices created a critical paradigm shift in how public safety professionals managed emergencies, and they continue to serve as an important foundation for our contemporary crisis management practices. While over the last two decades we have adjusted our plans and strategies and generated new processes given lessons learned, it is time that as an industry, we make more significant changes to modernize our approach considering the availability and related impacts of technology.

In this blog, Devra Schwartz, founder of Total Resilience Consulting, will explore the modernization of emergency management, focusing on two key areas: (1) leveraging and integrating technology into each phase of crisis management and (2) capitalizing on the availability of near and real-time big data to enhance and improve plans and processes.

Join us as we delve into innovative solutions that are reshaping how we prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. In future blog posts, Devra Schwartz will share insights from industry experts, case studies showcasing successful implementations, and practical tips for integrating these technologies into existing frameworks.
